Adult Education & Business Opportunities
Continuing Education
This year EASTERN’s Continuing Education department was restructured to become more fiscally stable. Those efforts included hiring a part-time supervisor – Richard Frank – and discontinuing the sending of direct mail brochures to residents of Eastern Montgomery County. Even with these changes, training opportunities for adults continued to be plentiful and convenient at EASTERN.
There were 623 adults served in the fall and spring in courses - like PA Automotive Enhanced Emissions and Safety Inspection Certification, EPA Technician Certification for refrigerant handlers and ServSafe food handling certification. Career enhancement classes included floral design, math prep and apprenticeship classes. Additionally, during the summer 70 adults enrolled to get automotive, food-handling and HVAC certifications.
Continuing Education also offered over 100 on-line enrichment and technical classes through EASTERN’s partnership with “Educational to Go”. These classes included paralegal training, design, new media certification programs, plus a wide selection of personal enrichment topics.
Apprenticeship Programs
Electrical and plumbing apprenticeship classes have been a staple at EASTERN for over 35 years. This training is offered in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship & Training.
